Eugene Oregon Portrait Photographer | Liesel & CASA of Lane County | Concert in the Village

This is Liesel, one of my all-time favorite people that I’ve had the pleasure of calling “friend”. She is beautiful, inside and out. Her heart is something that many admire, her soul seeks things that are pure, and her singing brings chills to my bones. She has been an inspiration to me these past few years and I’m so excited that I got to photograph her recently. We met bright and early at a local park where her beautiful girls played while we had some fun of our own. I know you are your own worst critic (I definitely am), but this is my one of my favorite portrait sessions. It was so easy to get these gorgeous images and even easier to work with in post processing.

Among many of the wonderful things that Liesel advocates for is CASA of Lane County. Last year, Liesel helped put together a fundraising event called “Concert in the Village“. It was a great hit and so it is happening once again this year! I’m so excited for it. I will be there, even with my cast on! To find out more about CASA of Lane County, go to their site (here); or just pack yourself a picnic basket, grab some folding chairs, bring all your loose change (yep, I mean money honey…the event is free, but this IS a fundraiser!) and head out to Crescent Village on Saturday, August 14, at 5 pm. Get ready for some amazing female musicians who will knock your socks off (Liesel Brooks, Grace Mitchell, and featuring Sarah Dashew), some fun for the whole family, and just a great summer event here in Eugene!

Here’s a look at last year’s event.

I hope you all come out and support a wonderful cause: helping abused and neglected children.

liesel - You make me want to cry. Such nice words. Hope I can live up to it someday. And, the feelings are so mutual friend. XOXO

Lane County Wedding Photographer | Amanda & Vincent | First Look & Pre-Ceremony Portraits

As a wedding and portrait photographer, my favorite part of a wedding is when I can combine two aspects of my style at the same time: setting up a shot and capturing moments as they happen. I find this to be most prominent when the bride and groom set apart time to focus on their bridal portraits, usually before the ceremony. In my experience, doing it after the ceremony is a bit more stressful because we all want to get to the party!;)Or, we’re all exhausted.

On July 10, Amanda and Vincent graciously agreed to do a “first look” prior to the ceremony and gave us about 45 minutes to play around before needing to jet back to the ceremony location (which happened to be the groom’s parents gorgeous property). Speaking of gorgeous properties, our “first look” location was a beautiful house along the Willamette River. Thank you, James & Diane, for allowing us to use your amazing views and landscapes!

Hope you enjoy part 1 of these two young love birds’ special day.

I also want to thank Willow, of WillowBee Photography, for assisting me with this wedding. It was a hot one! Thanks for putting up with me and the heat!:)

Eugene Oregon Portrait Photographer | Children’s Portraits | Sean & Elise

If you are a regular visitor to my site, you may be noticing that my pictures have been looking different. Well, it’s true, they are different. I’m playing around with post processing and learning what I like and what I don’t about this world of the digital darkroom. There is so much a person can do to the images that come out of digital cameras these days…it can drive you insane! Not only that, I’m also confined to bed rest because I broke my left foot wakeboarding and had surgery, so I’ve been working on my non-calibrated laptop…which may also affect the results of what you see. So, let me know your thoughts, what you like, what you don’t like. Be honest because constructive criticism is one of the best ways I learn!

So with that, I want to show you a fun children’s session that I took prior to getting hurt. In the last post, I mentioned that I have met some wonderful families through my children’s school. Here’s another one of those families. Actually, Sean and Elise’s mom was my daughter’s kindergarten teacher! It has been wonderful to get to work with her once a week as my husband and I volunteered in the classroom; it has been even better getting to know her outside of the classroom. Thanks for the fun times!! Elise and Taylor have become great friends through school and sports. We are so looking forward to spending more years with you guys!

This session was taken all at my “portrait park”…my farm! I had been wanting my own kids to pose for me for pictures like these, but Sean and Elise were much more compliant.:)If you want your portraits taken out here on the farm, don’t hesitate to call, book a session, and put in your request! Enjoy the preview.

Eugene Oregon Portrait Photographer | Family Session | The Crovettos

This past year, I met a quite few wonderful families through the school my kids attend. I have no doubt that these families and mine are just at the beginning of our path of friendship since our kids are so young and will be together for many years. I am so looking forward to growing together! Here is one of those great families….the Crovettos.

Thanks for a fun session, guys! I know you had your doubts, but the kids were fabulous.:)

Katie - These are really cute. I especially love the final one of just the two of them. It is so sweet.

Portland Oregon Wedding Photographer | Danielle & Ryan | Married!

On June 19, 2010, the forecast for Portland, Oregon was rain. This was not the best news since Danielle and Ryan’s wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place outside on top of the Ecotrust building. Fortunately for us, the rain held off. We only had some sprinkles right before the ceremony and the rest of the day was just beautiful! Thank you, everyone, for making me feel so welcomed. I felt like part of the family, not just the photographer. Thank you for the wonderful honor of entrusting me to photojournal this special occasion. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the day.

I would have to say that Danielle & Ryan’s invitations are the most unique ones I have ever seen.  What a wonderful idea!

Danielle and most of her bridesmaids had their hair done at a cute little salon called Chariets.  I love the chandelier!

I don’t think this hotel needs any introduction…The Nines speaks for itself.  We all got to enjoy the luxury and service of The Nines…what a treat!  Thank you, Cari!

Danielle and Ryan’s first date was at Powell’s…

There were so many wonderful and fun images. You guys really know how to have fun and celebrate! Thanks, again, for making me a part of your celebration! Congratulations, Danielle & Ryan! You guys are missed, already!

And, last but not least, I want to thank Maalaea of I and M Photography, for helping me with this coverage. You are a joy to work with! (Some of these shots were from her perspective.)

Here is a slideshow of the ceremony and party! Enjoy!!
